Church Stained Glass Windows, Repairs, Protective covering,

Stained Glass Restoration and New Protective Covering at First United Methodist Church in Eden, NC

In 2007, Laws Stained Glass Studios visited First United Methodist Church in Eden, NC.  Laws inspected the windows and found them in overall good shape.  However, the windows needed an extra steel brace at the top of each window to prevent further bugling, and they had some broken pieces of glass.
In 2008, Laws Stained Glass Studios returned to the church and completed the repair and restoration work of the stained glass windows.  Laws cleaned the windows on the inside, removed loose putty or cementing around each piece of lead, and soldered one additional brace to each window at the top.  The church identified (11) broken pieces of glass that Laws replaced.  On the outside, Laws cleaned each window and painted each steel ventilator with a coat of exterior paint.
In addition to the restoration work, Laws provided 1/4" Lucite acrylic as the protective covering for the (19) opalescent glass windows:  10  windows (size 45" wide x 90" high), 3 windows (size 52" wide x 26" high), 5 windows (17" wide x 66" high), and 1 round window (59" diameter).  The Lucite was held in place with (2) rows of 1/2"x 1/2" white aluminum stop.
