Stained Glass Windows at St. Stephen African Methodist Episcopal Church in Loris, SC

In 2016, Laws Stained Glass Studios provided (9) opalescent glass windows for St. Stephen AME Church in Loris, SC. The curved-top windows (size 39" wide x 73" high) contained 12" round Biblical scenes from the "Life of Christ" series and a place for two memorial plates. The Biblical scenes had figures with darker flesh tone. Along with the windows, Laws provided new white aluminum frames and 1/4" Lucite acrylic as the protective covering.

Laws Stained Glass Studios initially met with the church in 2005. The church did not have the funds to buy the windows at that time, but Laws provided a color sketch of the windows to use to raise money to purchase the windows.

Laws began the installation by removing the entire wood frame including the wood sashes and the casing on the outside. Laws installed the new white aluminum frame brick to brick. After removing the wood frame, an area from the new aluminum frame to the existing facing board needed to be re-cased. A church member was to replace the woodwork in that area. On the exterior, 1/4" Lucite acrylic was installed as the protective covering in the new frame.
